Spending America’s Independence Day in the mountains is a
great way to beat the heat and enjoy our country’s great outdoors. Fortunately,
charming Rocky Mountain towns like Beaver Creek,
Avon, and Vail
boast a plethora of fun, 4th-themed events. Take your pick from any of these
for a memorable 4th of July.
Dynafit Vail Hillclimb Trail Run
When: 7/3, 7:00 am
Where: Vail Mountain Haus
This 7.7 mile uphill race tests even the most hardened of trail blazers. Each
summer, local and national runners come to Vail for this epic, yet short trail
run. The almost 8-mile track ascends 2,200 vertical feet – hence its name
“Hillclimb”. Racers move along the historic gravel double-track as it heads
east from Eagle’s Nest before ending at Mid-Vail. Day of registration is
available if you’re looking for a last-minute trail run, or you can reserve
your spot ahead of time.
35th Annual Salute to the
U.S.A.
When: 7/3, 5:00 pm
Where: Harry A. Nottingham Park
Enjoy an afternoon and evening full of activities at this
Avon park. Pack a cooler with snacks and non-alcoholic beverages and come
prepared for some balloon animals, face painting, festival food, and more. As
the sun goes down, Grammy-award winning musicians will take the stage to
serenade celebrators until the grand finale fireworks display, complete with
10,000 shells. You won’t soon forget this Annual Salute to the U.S.A.
Shari Puorto Band
When: 7/4, 1:00 pm
Where: Beaver Creek Resort
This nationally recognized blues and rock musician will take
the stage during the Beaver Creek 4th of July Blues Celebration. Shari Puorto has long been honing her musical talents around the country,
including on the Legendary Rhythm and Blues Cruise. Puorto has recently returned to land and will treat
guests of this mountain music festival to her beautiful vocals and lively
performance.
Bravo! Vail Music Festival
When: 7/4, 1:00 pm
Where: Gerald R. Ford Amphitheater
Now in its 34th season, the Bravo! Vail Music Festival always attracts music and mountain lovers of all ages.
There’s no better time like the 4th to enjoy an array of performances from the Chamber music genre at this epic outdoor venue. Take in sweeping mountain views
from comfortable, stadium-style lawn seating. Pack a picnic and plan to spend the
afternoon with other music lovers and Vail Valley locals.
Not into big crowds this year? Don’t fret. There are plenty
of other activities around the Vail Valley that allow young and old to embrace Colorado summer and this holiday
of independence. Rent paddle boards and head out on Dillon
Reservoir. Tackle a long, alpine lake hike to see the reds, whites, and
blues that Mother Nature has to offer. The Rocky Mountains have so much to
offer its residents and visitors. Living at The Piedmont Apartments allows direct
access to this gorgeous, natural playground. Contact us for more info.
