Colorado Hot Springs Perfect for Summer

Colorado’s summers evoke the perfect evening temps that beg a soak in a natural hot spring. Fortunately, our state is rife with these picturesque warm baths and Rocky Mountain residents don’t need to travel very far to experience their healing waters. Here are some of our favorite hot springs that burst with natural beauty during the summer months.

Valley View Hot Springs

Nestled in the beautiful Sangre de Cristo range near Alamosa sits Valley View Hot Springs. This peaceful oasis beckons nature lovers to its secluded warm springs. Multiple bathing pools are situated throughout the mountainous property and bathers are treated to scenic almost-birds-eye-views of the valley below.

Piedra River Hot Springs

South of Pagosa Springs sits Piedra River Hot Springs, a natural soaking pool that requires a hike. This spring is best visited in the summertime as the trail can become snow packed and messy in the winter and spring. These healing waters are a popular draw in the area so arrive early to snag a spot, be sure to respect the wildlife, and enjoy a soak in solitude.

Rainbow Hot Springs

As one of Colorado’s most primitive and wild hot springs, Rainbow Hot Springs is a must-see during our state’s summer months. A 4.5-mile, one-way hike gets visitors to these soaking pools secluded amongst the pines. Two separate natural pools were constructed from large river rocks along the banks of the San Juan River. Now, visitors take it upon themselves to maintain the integrity of the pools, adjusting rocks to keep the hot water in.

Radium Hot Springs

This popular hot spring outside of Kremmling, Colorado is a favorite amongst the town’s residents. The northwest corner of CO doesn’t see as many summertime visitors as the Vail Valley or San Juan Range during these warm months, making it a perfect destination for those who want to play in peace. Radium Hot Springs is just 0.75 miles from Highway 11 and is a relatively easy walk. Pack a picnic (be sure to pack it out) and enjoy an afternoon spent soaking at Radium.

South Canyon Hot Springs

Also known as Hippy Hot Springs, these natural warm pools are nearby beautiful Glenwood Springs, Colorado. Plan a weekend trip and explore this town while getting a dip in at these secluded, natural hot springs. Soakers will feel a world-away from the bustling mountain town as they take in picturesque views of the canyon and listen to the river rush by.

Colorado’s mountains hold numerous treasures waiting to be experienced.
