The Avon Town Cleanup Day and Sustainability Fair is coming up quickly! On May 24th at 1 Lake Street from 4:30-7:30pm, spring into spring with a little spring cleaning! This is the perfect chance to tidy up the town, recycle electronic waste, learn how to live a more sustainable life, and enjoy some food and brews. Here’s what you need to know:
Dropping Off Your Electronics
Do you have an old laptop collecting dust on your office shelf? A TV from your Seinfeld era? A drawer full of random cords and wires? Tell your electronics to hit the road Mac at the electronic drop-off station. This drop-off is open to all residents of Avon (must show proof of address) and is suitable for items like small appliances, printers, and computers. Large appliances and/or refrigerated appliances will not be accepted.
Learn From Local Industry Experts
If you’re interested in adopting sustainability practices for your home or your business (or both), stop by the Sustainability Fair. Local experts will be onsite to provide tips and demonstrations on how to compost, conserve water, save energy, and engage in other Earth-friendly activities. You can also learn about Avon’s recycling, compost, and waste programs, energy rebates, electronic vehicle promotions, and landscaping and weed ordinances.
Some of the experts scheduled to attend include Vail Honeywagon, Evergreen Zero Waste, Home Depot, E-Bike Rebate, Energy Smart Colorado, and Holy Cross Energy.
Turn Chores Into Cheers
Participants interested in taking part in the town cleanup will be given a bag and gloves and assigned two zones. They’ll also be treated to free food and, perhaps more importantly, free beer, merging libations with litter for a whole new kind of happy hour.
