destinations for winter activities in our state. This venue is home to more
than 40 kilometers of meticulously maintained cross-country skiing and
snowshoeing trails that offer breathtaking views of the mountains. When you’re
ready to warm up, grab a cup of hot cocoa or a snack at the lodge.
Aspen Snowmass Nordic Trail System
The Aspen Snowmass Nordic Trail System
is a beautiful place to explore 90 kilometers of cross-country skiing trails.
This is one of the largest free trail systems in America and connects the
communities of Aspen, Snowmass Village, and Basalt with an impressive system of
integrated trails. In addition to skiing trails, this venue offers options for
winter walking (and some are dog-friendly).
Vail Nordic System
Vail is just 10 miles from Avon, and the Vail Nordic System is an
excellent destination for experiencing cross country skiing. The track is
groomed daily, making this trail system exceptionally safe and fun for all
levels of skiers. If you’d like to try snowshoeing or fat baking, rentals are
available for these winter activities, as well.
Eldora Nordic Center
The Eldora Nordic Center’s
trails wind through stunning old-growth forests and offer expansive views of
alpine meadows. While you’re here, you might enjoy a glimpse of wildlife such
as hawks gliding overhead or moose tracks in the forest. If you’re looking for
peace and quiet, this location is a can’t-miss.
